Automatically calculate reverse coding, subscale scores and total/mean scores. Paste from Excel, get instant results.
Define your scale's structure
Click the items to reverse-code (red = reversed). Reversed score = (Min + Max) − given score.
If you don't define subdimensions, all items are calculated as a single dimension
One participant per row. You can paste directly from Excel/SPSS.
| Variable | N | Min | Max | Mean | Std. Deviation | Median | Skewness | Cronbach α |
|---|
Reversed score = (lowest option + highest option) − given score. On a 1–5 Likert scale, 5 → 1 and 4 → 2; on a 0–4 scale, 4 → 0. In the calculator, enter the Likert Min and Max values according to your scale (0 can also be entered).
Use whichever one the scale's original user guide recommends. The mean score makes it easier to compare subscales with different numbers of items on the same scale (e.g., 1–5); the total score is preferred for scales that have a cutoff score.
If any of the items used to calculate a score is blank, that participant's score is left empty and is not included in the descriptive statistics; their other scores are still calculated. The results show how many scores could not be calculated due to missing data.
